The kids had a day off school on 2/28 for Taiwan's Peace Day
(click to read more, very interesting history)
We spent the day at the Science Museum with friends, celebrating the fact that I had managed to get us annual passes on our previous visit.
[Side story: the last day of Chinese New Year break Susan tended Theo so Ryley, Julien and I could brave an outing together. I tried to downplay how nervous it still makes me to navigate unknowns in this Chinese-speaking world. But we successfully took a new bus, found a bookstore and then the museum, checking my phone's Google map at every turn. Then using my rehearsed phrase of "I want to buy a family pass" we got pointed and re-pointed to the right desk and with the help of multiple parties (including Ryley's interpretation) filled out all the forms and paid the fees. Et voila. We proceeded to spend a couple hours at the hands-on exhibits, hopefully not disobeying all the posted instructions of what to do and not do and trying my best to explain to the boys what-was-what without the benefit of being able to read the plaques!]
Here are the boys enjoying a good climb on the double-helix...until someone pointed out that the red characters on the post said "no climbing."
We did our best to heed the other signs we could read :)
Notice how much fun Theo is having in his stroller.
Notice how much fun I'm having then he's out of his stroller :)
Here are a few more random photos to capture a few memories:
Blossoms at our park
(Lately Julien and I have been kicking around a soccer ball here in the mornings after taking Ryley to school. Theo has been great about playing close by or even being on my team. No little people or balls in the pond yet :)
Julien's favorite flowers

Our new expat friends who moved into our building!!
It's crazy how relaxing and fun it can be to hang out with people who you understand (on many levels). It has been a refreshing social outlet for all of us to have them here :)
